Guard Lock - Clinton

Built below the dam and feeder of the Tuscarawas River, this is the only guard lock on the canal from Clinton north to Cleveland. It was used to control the water level in an attempt to avoid flooding the town (which worked... sometimes). Excess water was shunted around the lock to a millrace where it powered the sawmill east of the Ohio & Erie Canal.
