Website Tips - Search, Trails & Maps
4/11/2010
Whether you're looking for street level info or hoping to plan a Canalway adventure - we have some tips to help streamline your Ohio & Erie Canalway website experience!
Home Page
- Search - Looking for a specific topic? Start in the box on the lower right of the Home Page.
- We'll show you the current top two searches as well - listed right below the search box. You can click on either of these two topics for a shortcut to the info you're seeking.
- Trails - Looking for a trail? Simply enter the city or Zip Code for your hiking destination in the box on the bottom right of the Home Page.
- The top three trail searches are listed as well - just below the trail search box. Click on any one of the three to go right to that trail's information.
Our Map - A Sense of Place & A Sense of SpaceThe interactive map is designed to provide you with two sets of information for any point in the Canalway.
A Sense of Place
In the larger center section, you can explore a place almost down to grass level! How to get to the details? Simply double click - and keep double clicking. Each double click takes you closer to the area you're exploring.
As you zoom in closer to a location, site markers will begin to appear - for attractions, trailheads, and more. Hover over one to bring up specific site information.
A Sense of Space
On the right side of the map, in the smaller rectangular section, we'll help you keep your sense of space by pinpointing the site you're exploring, within the context of the entire Canalway. It's a bit of a "You are Here" feature.
See all the Travel Components on the Map - or just one!Along the bottom of the map, you'll see check boxes for the 80-mile
Towpath Trail, the 110-mile
America's Byway and the
Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad as well as
Planned and
Construction areas. When all boxes are checked, all information is displayed. If you'd like to focus in on one or two of the areas, simply uncheck the boxes that don't apply.
