Exploration Gateway

The Exploration Gateway at Sippo Lake Park in Stark County provides visitors with a day’s worth of adventure! The site includes the interactive Congressman Ralph Regula Canalway Center highlighting Ohio & Erie Canal history and environmental stewardship, with nature education programming, displays of live wildlife, wetland trails, boat rentals, accessible fishing docks, community meeting rooms, a video-conference center, science classroom, and a public library. Located halfway between the Ohio & Erie Canalway Towpath Trail and the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad, the Exploration Gateway is a great place to begin exploring the Canalway when you visit Stark County.

The Congressman Ralph Regula Canalway Center, inside Exploration Gateway at Sippo Lake Park, is a 4,300 square foot exhibit hall features the Canal Boat Adventure and 10 other interactive exhibits showcasing Ohio & Erie Canal history, business innovators, and environmental stewardship.

Hours, Tues.-Fri., 10 a.m.-4 p.m.; Sat., 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Sun., 1-4 p.m. Children 3 and under, free.

Free child admission (12 and under) with a paid adult admission ($1) for Stark County residents and $3 adult admission and $1 for children for non-Stark County residents.  Families who hold family memberships with the Friends of Stark Parks will be admitted free of charge. A special $1 per student rate is available for school groups. Children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult in the exhibit hall. Group tours by appointment, and on-site meeting rooms with catering available for groups up to 200.
